Palm Springs, CA – Residents of California’s 36th Congressional District who lost homes or businesses in the recent wildfires may be eligible for federal assistance. The Office of Dr. Raul Ruiz (D - Palm Desert) is available to assist those affected by damage to homes or businesses with claims to the Small Business Administration.
Additionally, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has made available grants for disaster preparedness and prevention. Qualifying agencies and organizations should contact Rep. Ruiz’ office for more information.
Washington, DC --- Today, Dr. Raul Ruiz (D-Palm Desert), joined by U.S. Representatives Jon Runyan (R-NJ) and Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) sent a bipartisan letter signed by 60 Democratic and Republican members to the House Committee on Ways and Means advocating for renewable energy in tax reform. The letter is endorsed by the American Wind Energy Association, the Solar Energy Industries Association and the Geothermal Energy Association.
Indio, CA – Today Dr. Raul Ruiz (D-Palm Desert) visited with volunteers and patients at the Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine Clinic (CVVIM) in Indio. This non-profit clinic provides free medical services to low-income, uninsured patients throughout the Coachella Valley. Dr. Ruiz served as a founding board member for the Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine and played an active role in making the clinic operational in November 2010.
WASHINGTON, DC – Today Dr. Raul Ruiz (D-Palm Desert) joined more than 70 Democratic and Republican members of the No Labels “Problem Solvers” group to announce a landmark legislative package comprised of nine bipartisan, common-sense bills to make government more efficient and effective. Dr. Ruiz is a cosponsor of all nine bills and a lead cosponsor on the 21st Century Health Care for Heroes Act, which will improve the delivery of veterans’ health care by merging the electronic health records of the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Dr. Raul Ruiz (D-Palm Desert) today voted against H.R. 1911, legislation that would end the current historically low 3.4 percent interest rate on student loans and tie future student loans to market-based interest rates that could fluctuate annually to a prohibitive 10.5 percent.
