Denounces administration’s efforts to undermine health care

Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36), an emergency medicine physician and member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, released the statement below following the news that the Senate will not vote on the most recent version of Trumpcare, the Graham-Cassidy bill.

"Today’s announcement that there will not be a vote on the Graham-Cassidy bill is good news but our work is not over. The Trump administration must stop the politically-motivated sabotage of our health care system that is causing premiums to increase and creating instability in the markets. They must stop their efforts to shorten enrollment periods and cut outreach and online registration. They must stop threatening to not fund the Cost Sharing Reductions subsidies that help patients afford co-payments and deductibles. This is unacceptable,” said Dr. Ruiz. “We must come together as Republicans and Democrats to stabilize the markets, pass my Marketplace Certainty Act, and bring down overall costs of care and medicine. We have a responsibility to patients to act now."
