Dr. Ruiz Applauds $5.7 M Infrastructure Investment in Palm Springs International Airport
Funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to make key upgrades to local airport
Washington, D.C. – This week, the Department of Transportation announced a $5.7 million award for the Palm Springs International Airport to upgrade its baggage claim area in order to meet the needs of growing passenger traffic to the region. The funding award was made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-25) advocated and voted for last year.
“The Palm Springs International Airport is a transit hub for the Coachella Valley and is a cornerstone of our local economy,” said Dr. Ruiz. “The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s $5.7 million investment in our local airport is outstanding news. When I met with Palm Springs International Airport officials last year, we discussed how important it is that we upgrade our infrastructure to meet the needs of our growing region. After advocating and voting for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, I’m glad this legislation is delivering resources that will grow our economy and improve the lives of all who visit and call the Coachella Valley home.”
The grant award announcement comes after Dr. Ruiz met with Palm Springs International Airport officials to discuss the airport’s infrastructure needs.
