Investing in America: White House Advisor to the President Mitch Landrieu & Dr. Ruiz Lead Riverside County Infrastructure Tour
Dr. Ruiz & Biden-Harris Administration highlight Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding opportunities.
Indio, CA – Today, White House Senior Advisor and Infrastructure Coordinator Mitch Landrieu joined Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. for an infrastructure tour of California’s 25th District. As part of the Biden Administration’s Investing in America Tour, Landrieu and Dr. Ruiz hosted roundtable conversations in Hemet and Thermal to hear from community leaders about the region’s infrastructure needs and discuss available grant opportunities for local projects under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Dr. Ruiz and Landrieu also visited Oasis Mobile Home Park to meet with Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) officials and residents on the area’s lack of access to clean water in the region.
“I am thankful to White House Senior Advisor and Infrastructure Coordinator Mitch Landrieu for joining me for today’s infrastructure tour and roundtable sessions,” said Dr. Ruiz. “For far too long, our nation’s crumbling infrastructure has caused families to drive on uneven roads, lack access to clean drinking water, and struggle with reliable broadband access. That is why I voted and advocated for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which is already hard at work bringing our infrastructure into the 21st Century.
“Now, I am working to make sure our communities get our fair share of federal funding under this historic law to improve clean water access, build safer roads, boost clean energy development, and lower costs for Riverside County families from the San Jacinto Valley and San Gorgonio Pass communities eastward to Blythe. I look forward to continuing my collaboration with the Administration to improve the lives of the people I serve.”
“President Biden’s investments in America are delivering results for communities across California,” said Senior Advisor to the President and White House Infrastructure Coordinator Mitch Landrieu. “From the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s investments in drought resilience and delivering clear water, to projects rebuilding roads and bridges, we are seeing progress. I am grateful to Congressman Ruiz and local leaders for the opportunity to showcase how we are investing in America again.”
President Biden’s Investing in America agenda is growing the American economy from the bottom up and middle-out – from rebuilding our nation’s infrastructure, to creating a manufacturing and innovation boom powered by good-paying jobs that don’t require a four-year degree, to building a clean-energy economy that will combat climate change and make our communities more resilient.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law makes a once-in-a-generation investment in our nation’s infrastructure and directs significant funding toward the State of California to improve clean drinking water access, create good-paying renewable energy jobs, and repair local highways.
To date, the Biden-Harris Administration has announced $18.4 billion in funding under this law that is on its way to California, benefiting over 633 specific projects. Many more projects will be added in the coming months, as grant awards and formula funds become available.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is already hard at work improving the lives of Californians. Since passed, approximately $14.6 billion has been announced for transportation - to invest in roads, bridges, public transit, ports, and airports – and roughly $1 billion has been announced for clean water. As of today, over 1.9 million households across the state are receiving affordable high-speed internet due to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
