Washington, DC – Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA) and 28 other bipartisan members of California's Congressional Delegation wrote to Treasury Secretary Mnuchin and Department of Interior Secretary Bernhardt on Wednesday urging them to support tribal governments by quickly disbursing funds from the CARES Act.

Washington D.C. – Today, Dr. Ruiz announced the introduction of the Care for COVID-19 Act, which would require health plans to cover diagnostic and treatment services related to COVID-19, at no cost to the patient. The bill also would create a special enrollment period for individuals who are impacted by COVID-19 to ensure that patients who are eligible for marketplace health plans would be able to enroll. The bill was introduced alongside Rep. Malinowski (NJ-07).

Washington, D.C. – Today Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) voted in favor of H.R. 2339, the Protecting American Lungs and Reversing the Youth Tobacco Epidemic Act. The bill, which passed the House 213-195, includes a ban on the manufacturing and sale of flavored e-cigarettes and tobacco. Also included in the bill is a measure from Dr. Ruiz's No VAPE Act, which would require harsher penalties on retailers who sell tobacco and vaping products to anyone under the age of 21.
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) and the Beaumont-Cherry Valley Water District (BCVWD) announced a $1.5 million Bureau of Reclamation grant award that will go toward water conservation efforts. The announcement comes after Dr. Ruiz advocated for the BCVWD's application for a WaterSMART Water and Energy Efficiency grant in a letter to Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Brenda Burman in September. The project will help increase water conservation and reduce water costs for residents in Beaumont, Cherry Valley, and parts of Calimesa.
