Congress moved closer to aiding veterans exposed overseas to toxic burn pits, often called the Agent Orange of the post-9/11 era, with the House's approval Thursday of a comprehensive reform bill.
Its passage also marked a win for local Rep. Raul Ruiz, D-La Quinta, who has pushed for legislation to tackle the issue for several years.
