Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) voted in favor of legislation to protect Americans from cancer-linked "forever chemicals" that have been found in drinking water and household products across the country. The bipartisan PFAS Action Act of 2019 passed the House Friday.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) is urging the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to develop new flight paths as noise pollution and particulate matter from heavy air traffic continue to harm area residents' quality of life. Urging the FAA to fast-track new flight plans in a letter sent along with other members of Congress, Dr. Ruiz emphasized the unknown and potentially harmful public health effects on residents beneath the current flight paths.

Washington D.C. – Today, President Trump signed into law three major legislative priorities of Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) – two of which will help servicemembers and veterans affected by toxic military burn pit exposure, with the third provision more than doubling the investment in mental health services for law enforcement officers. With the President's signature today, Dr. Ruiz has now had four legislative priorities signed into law in 2019.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) voted in favor of the United States Mexico Canada (USMCA) Trade agreement passed by the House of Representatives yesterday to improve labor standards to grow American jobs, strengthen environmental protections, and increase investments to address water pollution along the U.S.-Mexico border. The USMCA includes more than $500 million for border water infrastructure programs to address pollution issues in waterways like the New River, which is a tributary to the Salton Sea.

Washington, D.C. Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) voted today to reinstate the full deduction on state and local taxes taken away by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (P.L. 115–97). H.R. 5377, the Restoring Tax Fairness for States and Localities Act of 2019 would blunt the harm from one of the most damaging provisions of the 2017 tax bill to the state of California: the $10,000 cap on the State and Local Tax (SALT) Deduction.

Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act, is an historic, comprehensive bill that gives Medicare the power to negotiate directly with drug companies, making those prices available to Americans with private insurance too.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the U.S. House passed Rep. Ruiz's bipartisan legislation calling on the Department of Defense to produce an implementation plan to end the use of active burn pits and provide a comprehensive list of all locations where military burn pits have been used by the military. Passing as part of the bipartisan, $738 billion National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the two burn pits provisions represent a milestone in the effort to end the use of military burn pits once and for all.

Six migrant children have died – three from flu-related illness – while in CBP custody in the last year. Sunday, December 8, 2019 marks one year since Jakeline Caal Maquin, a 7-year-old in CBP custody, died because she did not have appropriate access to medical care.

Washington D.C. – Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (D-CA) announced the introduction of his bill to encourage small businesses to invest in their workers. Dr. Ruiz's bill, H.R. 5261, the Rewarding American Investments to Support Employees (RAISE) Act, would encourage small businesses to give pay raises to employees by providing employers with a tax credit of up to ten percent of their total payroll increase that year. This tax credit would be particularly helpful for small businesses in California as they transition to a $15/hour minimum wage through 2023.
