Coachella, CA – Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) administered the COVID-19 vaccine to constituents at a Rite Aid mobile vaccine clinic hosted in conjunction with Desert Healthcare District. The event took place at Coachella Valley High School and follows Dr. Ruiz's advocacy for retail pharmacies to prioritize hard-hit, medically underserved communities like those in California's 36th district.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed a number of Rep. Raul Ruiz's public health priorities as part of H.R. 1319, the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Rep. Ruiz (CA-36) fought to include language to provide major funding for environmental justice grants, physician teaching health centers, and Tribal health programs.

Palm Desert, CA – Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) hosted a press conference with local DACA recipients and advocates on the need for the House to pass H.R. 6, the Dream and Promise Act. Ruiz is the Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC). The House will vote next week on H.R. 6, which would allow Dreamers and individuals with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) to contribute fully in the country they love and know to be their home by providing a pathway to citizenship.

Palm Desert, CA – Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) called on the State of California and Blue Shield of California to bring more vaccines to Eastern Riverside County. In a letter to Government Operations Agency Secretary Yolanda Richardson and California Blue Shield CEO Paul Markovich, Dr. Ruiz pushed for more vaccines to be made available to his constituents in California's 36th Congressional District, which includes 12 Medically Underserved Areas that have been hit hard by the pandemic.

Ruiz led other Southern California members of Congress in a letter to National Park Service Deputy Director Shawn Benge urging the Administration to green light upgrades to the Cottonwood Visitor Center. Currently, at least 42,000 military retirees with combat-related injuries qualify for medical retirement pay for their service from the Department of Defense and for disability compensation for injuries connected to their service from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
