Washington, D.C. – Today Representative Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) announced that he was appointed to the prestigious House Energy and Commerce Committee, an exclusive committee that deals with a wide range of that will be front and center in the coming months, including health care and energy policy. Dr. Ruiz will be the only Democratic physician on the committee.

Palm Desert, CA - The U.S. Small Business Administration, Santa Ana District Office has established a satellite office in the Coachella Valley to better serve small business owners, entrepreneurs and participating lenders in the area. The agency celebrated the occasion by hosting a ribbon cutting at its new location on December 12 which was attended by roughly 100 participants, including SBA Regional Administrator Donna Davis, Santa Ana District Director J. Adalberto Quijada, Santa Ana Deputy District Director Rachel Baranick, Representative Raul Ruiz, M.D.

MECCA, Calif., October 10, 2016 – U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Under Secretary Lisa Mensah and U.S. Representative Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) highlighted an innovative public-private partnership today resulting in $32 million of Community Facilities Relending Program funds to two California organizations, Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) and Arcata Economic Development Corporation.

Palm Desert, CA – Dr. Raul Ruiz (CA-36) released the following statement after two Palm Springs police officers were fatally shot and another was wounded while responding to reports of a domestic disturbance Saturday afternoon:

"Officers Jose Gil Vega and Lesley Zerebny are incredible examples of courage and service and I mourn their tragic loss of life. My thoughts and prayers are with their family, friends, and the entire Palm Springs and law enforcement community.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-02), a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, today applauded House passage of her bill to improve the quality and safety of mobility equipment used by disabled veterans.

H.R. 3471, the Veterans Mobility Safety Act, would require the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to set comprehensive standards for providers of automobile adaptive equipment, such as wheelchair lifts and reduced-effort steering and braking systems. The legislation passed unanimously by voice vote and now heads to the Senate.
