Dear Friends,

I am excited to kick off the first-ever Veterans University in just over one week! This two-day event is a critical step in continuing to build a community of and for veterans. Our veterans and their families and loved ones have made an enormous sacrifice for our nation and it is our duty to ensure they can access the services they need.

On June 25th and June 26th at the Cal State San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus, I invite you to join me and other veterans advocates for this exciting event. Veterans University will provide an in depth look into the claims and appeals process for veterans benefits, employment and workforce training opportunities available to returning service members, an overview of the mental health and counseling services available for veterans, a chance to network with fellow veterans and the service providers who serve them, and much more. If you are a veteran or have a friend or family member who is looking for help or answers about how to find a job, how to get to and from doctor’s appointments, or how to talk about trauma and mental health, Veterans University is for you.

Speakers include representatives from the Riverside Country Veteran Services, folks from the Indio Veterans Employment Development Department, specialists from the VA Palm Desert Clinic, and travel benefits experts from the VA Loma Linda Healthcare system. These representatives will teach veterans the best way to access care, but they will also give each one of us the tools we need to better serve the veterans in our community.

I hope you will join me next week on June 25th and 26th for Veterans University. You can visit my Facebook page or call my office, at 760-424-8888 for more information. Tickets are FREE, but spots are filling up fast, so click here to reserve your seat!

Sincerely,

Raul Ruiz, M.D.
