Dear Friends,

I am excited to share some great news with you — I have fought for and successfully secured additional funding for the Salton Sea.

Image removed. The U.S. Department of Interior will allocate $3 million in new funding, which will help rehabilitate the Salton Sea by creating 31 acres of wetlands habitat along the Alamo River. This is important because this habitat will serve the dual purpose of purifying and stopping the flow of nitrates and other harmful contaminants into our Sea, and providing critical wetland habitat for migratory birds in our area. From a medical perspective, this means fewer dangerous dust particles reaching and negatively affecting the families who live in the Southern California areas.

This is a great victory for our communities and will help mitigate the health and environmental crisis facing our valley. This funding builds on the groundbreaking at the Red Hill Bay and together are the first steps in preserving the Salton Sea for future generations.

There is more work to do at the Salton Sea. Our communities are actually seeing results and the momentum is growing. Know that I stand with you as your champion to ensure the health and economic vitality of our region. I need to hear from you. Please complete the survey.
