House Passes New COVID-19 Legislation
October 3, 2020
Dear Friends,
Our community is in urgent need of relief. Families, workers, and small business owners in our district are hurting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
This week, the House passed an updated version of the Heroes Act to save lives and protect Americans' livelihoods. I am now calling on the Senate to act without delay.
This week, the House passed an updated version of the Heroes Act to save lives and protect Americans' livelihoods. I am now calling on the Senate to act without delay.
NEW! House Passes Updated Relief Legislation
The new Heroes Act will meet the needs of the American people by:
- Issuing another round of stimulus checks;
- Extending unemployment benefits;
- Improving the Paycheck Protection Program;
- Funding our local cities to pay for our first responders, firefighters, teachers, and more;
- Investing in education and child care.
This bill also includes my three bills to:
- Ensure that COVID-19 treatment and vaccines have no out of pocket costs;
- Monitor pollution and investigate COVID-19's impact on environmental justice communities with poor air quality;
- Expand tribal health care funding and resources.
I took to the House floor to advocate for the much-needed relief we need to combat this virus, get people back to work safely, and save lives. I will keep the pressure on the Senate to act without delay for the American people.
Sincerely,
Raul Ruiz, M.D.
Member of Congress
