Dr. Ruiz Joins Fellow No Labels "Problem Solvers" Members to Announce Landmark Bipartisan Legislative Package

July 18, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC – Today Dr. Raul Ruiz (D-Palm Desert) joined more than 70 Democratic and Republican members of the No Labels “Problem Solvers” group to announce a landmark legislative package comprised of nine bipartisan, common-sense bills to make government more efficient and effective. Dr. Ruiz is a cosponsor of all nine bills and a lead cosponsor on the 21st Century Health Care for Heroes Act, which will improve the delivery of veterans’ health care by merging the electronic health records of the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense.

“People in the 36th District and across the country are fed up with extreme partisanship and gridlock in Washington,” said Dr. Ruiz. “We must put people before partisanship and solutions above ideology, and I was proud to join so many of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle today to show that we are committed to finding solutions. The nine bills in the ‘No Labels’ package will save taxpayers tens of billions of dollars and achieve goals that both Democrats and Republicans care about – like streamlining veterans’ health care through the 21st Century Health Care for Heroes Act.”

The No Labels “Problems Solvers” group is a bipartisan coalition of more than 80 Members of Congress who meet regularly to build trust across the aisle and come up with solutions. The legislative package introduced today is the first large-scale initiative from the No Labels “Problem Solvers” coalition. For more information, visit www.nolabels.org.
