Dr. Ruiz Slams Trumpcare’s Impact on Patients After Release of Newest CBO Score

June 26, 2017

Nonpartisan analysis confirms 15 million more uninsured just in the next year

Washington, D.C. – Today Representative Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36), a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, released the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released their score of the Senate Republicans' health care bill:

"The CBO score of the Senate version of Trumpcare confirms yet again what we have known for months – this bill will undoubtedly harm the American people. This nonpartisan analysis found that 15 million more Americans will become uninsured within a year and that number would reach 22 million within a decade. For patients with chronic illnesses who will go without access to lifesaving medications because they don't have insurance – this is dangerous. For patients who have serious conditions that won't get caught and treated early because they can't afford preventive services – this can be life threatening. This bill isn't just mean; it's cruel, it's deadly, and it must be stopped."
