Rep. Ruiz Announces Subcommittee Assignments for the 113th Congress

Washington, DC --- U.S. Representative Raul Ruiz, M.D. (D-Palm Desert) today announced his subcommittee assignments for the 113th Congress.

On the House Committee on Natural Resources, Ruiz will serve on the Subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs and the Subcommittee on Water and Power. On the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, Ruiz will serve on the Subcommittee on Health and the Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs.

"My subcommittee assignments will allow me to be an effective advocate for the people and communities I represent," said Rep. Ruiz. "I look forward to working with my Democratic and Republican colleagues on these subcommittees to make a direct and meaningful impact in the 36th District and across the nation."

  • The House Committee on Natural Resources, Subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs oversees all matters regarding Native American tribes across the country.
  • The House Committee on Natural Resources, Subcommittee on Water and Power, oversees all matters concerning national water resources, federal irrigation projects, electric power from federal water projects, and interstate water issues.
  • The House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, Subcommittee on Health, has jurisdiction over the Veterans Health Administration including medical services, medical support and compliance, and medical facilities.
  • The House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs, has oversight over compensation, general and special pensions.
