All with the help of one Coachella Valley congressman who led the charge in Washington D.C.
On Wednesday, President Joe Biden signed a bill that will expand healthcare and benefits to veterans exposed to toxic burn pits.
Congress passed the bill, the PACT Act, last week. The Senate originally struck it down, but came back on Tuesday and overwhelmingly passed the bill.
The "Honoring Our Pact Act" will be signed into law next week by President Biden. The bill will be expanding health care and other benefits for veterans.
News Channel 3's John White spoke with Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz about his fight for this bill in the name of local veteran Jennifer Kepner.
The U.S. Senate passed Congressman Raul Ruiz's Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxins (PACT) Act Tuesday.
Ruiz says Biden will be signing it into law Monday August 8th.
"Over 3 million veterans will be impacted, positively impacted," says Ruiz. "Their pain and suffering will be alleviated because now they will be able to access the health care due to those illnesses and exposure to burn pits and their widows and families will be taken care of."

The US Senate has overwhelmingly voted to pass the burn pits bill. The PACT Act was passed with an 82 to 11 vote.
The bill will now head to President Joe Biden's desk for signature.
