During the 2020 general election, there were numerous reports of individuals bringing firearms to federal election sites with the apparent purpose of intimidation.

Washington, D.C. –This week, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (D-CA) and Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA) introduced H.R. 4580, the American Seasonal and Perishable Crop Support Act, which would help level the playing field for Coachella Valley growers who compete against below-market foreign imports. The legislation was drafted in concert with local growers who have seen drastic drops in production as foreign imports have driven prices below a sustainable level.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) announced that the American Rescue Plan has delivered over $1 million in Head Start funding to Riverside County Office of Education. Ruiz helped secure the grant funding to help get students back in the classroom and make up for lost learning time. The funding will benefit 11 school districts across Riverside County and assist schools in modernizing their classrooms and students in accessing academic resources.

Washington, D.C. – This week, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) announced that he had secured $10 million for ten Community Projects in four Fiscal Year 2022 Appropriations bills that will expand access to health care, bring clean water to the Eastern Coachella Valley, and fund multiple local infrastructure projects. Ruiz also secured a New Start for an Army Corps of Engineers Project at the Salton Sea that will bring significant federal resources to addressing the receding shoreline.

Palm Desert, CA –This week, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) revealed that local Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) leadership had allowed the Oasis Mobile Home Park (OMHP) to operate without a business lease and in unsafe conditions for more than thirteen years prior to the ongoing drinking water crisis. Ruiz began his investigation earlier this year after local BIA officials failed to take meaningful action to fulfill their responsibility under the federal trust responsibility for Tribal lands.

Washington, D.C. –Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) and Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) introduced two bills to address health disparities in American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Taken together, the Native Behavioral Health Access Improvement Act and the Native Health and Wellness Act would address the gap in access to health care resources and achieve better health outcomes for Tribal communities.
