Washington, D.C. – Today, the American Legion recognized Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-25) with the Distinguished Public Service Award for his leadership in helping pass the Honoring our PACT Act, a historic law to help veterans exposed to burn pits and other toxins receive the health care and benefits they earned, need, and deserve. Dr. Ruiz received the award during the 60th Annual National Commander’s Call in Washington, D.C.

“President Biden delivered a message of hope, optimism, and continued economic growth for our nation. In the last two years, we have worked together to deliver results for California, including lower health care costs for families, relief for veterans exposed to burn pits, reduced prescription drug and insulin costs for seniors, and good-paying jobs for local workers.
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-25) announced Calipatria City Councilmember Michael J. Luellen II as his guest at this year’s State of the Union Address. Councilmember Luellen is one of the youngest serving elected officials in California at just 18 years old. He is also the youngest person to ever serve on Calipatria City Council.

Deputies Cordero and Calhoun were tragically shot and killed while serving in the line of duty less than one month apart. To honor their legacies, Congressman Ruiz recorded their life stories in the Congressional Record and called for a moment of silence on the House floor.

Calexico, CA – Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-25) visited the U.S.-Mexico border where he met with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and local officials to assess the situation on the ground and discuss Southern California’s immigration needs. Following his tour of the Calexico West Port of Entry (POE), Dr. Ruiz met with the City of Calexico and Imperial County officials for a discussion on support for border communities.
Washington, D.C. – On Friday, President Joe Biden signed into law legislation authored by Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-25) to take more than 2,500 acres of land in the San Jacinto Mountains into trust for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. The legislation, H.R. 897, the Agua Caliente Land Exchange Fee to Trust Confirmation Act, would allow the Tribe to further their conservation efforts and practice consistent forest management.
