WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ahead of César Chávez Day, U.S. Senator Alex Padilla and Representative Raul Ruiz (both D-Calif.) introduced bicameral legislation to create the César E. Chávez and the Farmworker Movement National Historical Park. This bill would preserve the nationally significant sites associated with César E. Chávez and the farm worker movement in California and Arizona. The legislation is cosponsored by Senator Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Representatives Grijalva and Gallego (both D-Ariz.).
Washington, D.C. – Congressmen Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-25) and Gus Bilirakis (FL-12) are working together on bipartisan legislation that would help military retirees access their full-earned benefits. Under current law, veterans with combat-related injuries qualify for medical retirement pay for their service from the Department of Defense and for disability compensation for injuries connected to their service from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-25) pressed the Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) for answers after a sudden increase in gas bills rocked consumers across Southern California this winter. In a letter to SoCalGas Chief Executive Officer Scott Drury, Dr. Ruiz called on the executive to provide information on the steps the company is taking to protect customers from future price increases.
Washington, D.C. – This week, the Department of Transportation announced a $5.7 million award for the Palm Springs International Airport to upgrade its baggage claim area in order to meet the needs of growing passenger traffic to the region. The funding award was made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-25) advocated and voted for last year.

Councilmember Luellen is one of the youngest serving elected officials in California at just 18 years old. He is also the youngest person to ever serve on Calipatria City Council.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-25) took to the House floor to honor fallen Riverside County Deputies Isaiah Cordero and Darnell Calhoun. Deputies Cordero and Calhoun were tragically shot and killed while serving in the line of duty less than one month apart. To honor their legacies, Congressman Ruiz recorded their life stories in the Congressional Record and called for a moment of silence on the House floor.
