Washington, D.C. – Today, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against the ability of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to regulate pollution in West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency. Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) voted for S. 2938, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, commonsense, bipartisan legislation to reduce the threat of gun violence across the country. The bill is the first gun violence prevention legislation to pass through both chambers of Congress in 30 years.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) put pressure on the Social Security Administration to reverse its decision to close the Blythe Resident Social Security Station that offers in-person services to local seniors. In a letter to Acting Social Security Commissioner Dr. Kilolo Kijakazi, Dr. Ruiz called on the Administration to keep the Blythe Resident Social Security Station open, citing the hardship Blythe residents would experience having to travel as far as Yuma, Ariz. to receive in-person Social Security services.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) is calling on House and Senate leadership to prevent the looming hunger cliff when the federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) Deceleration expires on July 15, 2022. Federal hunger relief enacted under Families First Coronavirus Response Act is currently tied to the expiring PHE. In a letter to Congressional Leadership, Dr. Ruiz recently joined fellow members in urging Congressional action to extend key programs under SNAP that over 4.3 million Californians rely on for nutritional support beyond the current PHE.
