Far too many tribal members still do not have access to the health care they need to stay healthy, and far too many tribal communities don't have the resources required to support a robust and comprehensive public health infrastructure. These bills work to address that gap and achieve healthier outcomes for native communities.

Palm Desert, CA – Today, Representative Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36), a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, responded to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office analysis, which found that if the Trump administration refuses to fund Cost Sharing Reductions (CSR) subsidies that help patients pay for co-pays and deductibles, premiums in silver plans would rise by 25 percent by 2020 and market instability would increase.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) called on Speaker Ryan to not adjourn for the August District Work Period until Congress addresses the threat of not funding Cost Sharing Reductions that help patients afford out-of-pocket costs. This instability in the Marketplace is driving up the cost of health care for the American people and must be addressed immediately before insurers set their 2018 rates in September. This bill will help millions of Americans afford health care by permanently funding Cost Sharing Reduction (CSR) subsidies and expanding access to more hardworking families. Currently, seven million Americans rely on these critical subsidies to afford out-of-pocket costs, like deductibles and co-payments.
